  23. 23 "Also take for yourself quality spices?five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane,
  24. 24 five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil.
  25. 25 And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil.
  26. 26 With it you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony;
  27. 27 the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense;
  28. 28 the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base.
  29. 29 You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them must be holy.
  30. 30 And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests.
  31. 31 "And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: 'This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations.
  32. 32 It shall not be poured on man's flesh; nor shall you make any other like it, according to its composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you.
  33. 33 Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on an outsider, shall be cut off from his people.' "
  34. 34 And the LORD said to Moses: "Take sweet spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, and pure frankincense with these sweet spices; there shall be equal amounts of each.
  35. 35 You shall make of these an incense, a compound according to the art of the perfumer, salted, pure, and holy.
  36. 36 And you shall beat some of it very fine, and put some of it before the Testimony in the tabernacle of meeting where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you.
  37. 37 But as for the incense which you shall make, you shall not make any for yourselves, according to its composition. It shall be to you holy for the LORD.
  38. 38 Whoever makes any like it, to smell it, he shall be cut off from his people."

  1. 1 "Make an altar of acacia wood for burning incense.
  2. 2 It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high?its horns of one piece with it.
  3. 3 Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it.
  4. 4 Make two gold rings for the altar below the molding?two on each of the opposite sides?to hold the poles used to carry it.
  5. 5 Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
  6. 6 Put the altar in front of the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law?before the atonement cover that is over the tablets of the covenant law?where I will meet with you.
  7. 7 "Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps.
  8. 8 He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the LORD for the generations to come.
  9. 9 Do not offer on this altar any other incense or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it.
  10. 10 Once a year Aaron shall make atonement on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering for the generations to come. It is most holy to the LORD."
  11. 11 Then the LORD said to Moses,
  12. 12 "When you take a census of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the LORD a ransom for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague will come on them when you number them.
  13. 13 Each one who crosses over to those already counted is to give a half shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. This half shekel is an offering to the LORD.
  14. 14 All who cross over, those twenty years old or more, are to give an offering to the LORD.
  15. 15 The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less when you make the offering to the LORD to atone for your lives.
  16. 16 Receive the atonement money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the tent of meeting. It will be a memorial for the Israelites before the LORD, making atonement for your lives."
  17. 17 Then the LORD said to Moses,
  18. 18 "Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it.
  19. 19 Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it.
  20. 20 Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting a food offering to the LORD,
  21. 21 they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come."
  22. 22 Then the LORD said to Moses,
  23. 23 "Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant calamus,
  24. 24 500 shekels of cassia?all according to the sanctuary shekel?and a hin of olive oil.
  25. 25 Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil.
  26. 26 Then use it to anoint the tent of meeting, the ark of the covenant law,
  27. 27 the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the altar of incense,
  28. 28 the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand.
  29. 29 You shall consecrate them so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy.
  30. 30 "Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them so they may serve me as priests.
  31. 31 Say to the Israelites, 'This is to be my sacred anointing oil for the generations to come.
  32. 32 Do not pour it on anyone else's body and do not make any other oil using the same formula. It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred.
  33. 33 Whoever makes perfume like it and puts it on anyone other than a priest must be cut off from their people.'?"
  34. 34 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Take fragrant spices?gum resin, onycha and galbanum?and pure frankincense, all in equal amounts,
  35. 35 and make a fragrant blend of incense, the work of a perfumer. It is to be salted and pure and sacred.
  36. 36 Grind some of it to powder and place it in front of the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you.
  37. 37 Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy to the LORD.
  38. 38 Whoever makes incense like it to enjoy its fragrance must be cut off from their people."

  3. 3 You shall overlay it with pure gold, its top and around its sides and its horns. And you shall make a molding of gold around it.
  4. 4 And you shall make two golden rings for it. Under its molding on two opposite sides of it you shall make them, and they shall be holders for poles with which to carry it.
  5. 5 You shall make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
  6. 6 And you shall put it in front of the veil that is above the ark of the testimony, in front of the mercy seat that is above the testimony, where I will meet with you.
  7. 7 And Aaron shall burn fragrant incense on it. Every morning when he dresses the lamps he shall burn it,
  8. 8 and when Aaron sets up the lamps at twilight, he shall burn it, a regular incense offering before the LORD throughout your generations.
  9. 9 You shall not offer unauthorized incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering, and you shall not pour a drink offering on it.
  10. 10 Aaron shall make atonement on its horns once a year. With the blood of the sin offering of atonement he shall make atonement for it once in the year throughout your generations. It is most holy to the LORD."
  11. 11 The LORD said to Moses,
  12. 12 "When you take the census of the people of Israel, then each shall give a ransom for his life to the LORD when you number them, that there be no plague among them when you number them.
  13. 13 Each one who is numbered in the census shall give this: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel is twenty gerahs), half a shekel as an offering to the LORD.
  14. 14 Everyone who is numbered in the census, from twenty years old and upward, shall give the LORD's offering.
  15. 15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less, than the half shekel, when you give the LORD's offering to make atonement for your lives.
  16. 16 You shall take the atonement money from the people of Israel and shall give it for the service of the tent of meeting, that it may bring the people of Israel to remembrance before the LORD, so as to make atonement for your lives."
  17. 17 The LORD said to Moses,
  18. 18 "You shall also make a basin of bronze, with its stand of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it,
  19. 19 with which Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet.
  20. 20 When they go into the tent of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn a food offering to the LORD, they shall wash with water, so that they may not die.
  21. 21 They shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they may not die. It shall be a statute forever to them, even to him and to his offspring throughout their generations."
  22. 22 The LORD said to Moses,
  23. 23 "Take the finest spices: of liquid myrrh 500 shekels, and of sweet-smelling cinnamon half as much, that is, 250, and 250 of aromatic cane,
  24. 24 and 500 of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil.
  25. 25 And you shall make of these a sacred anointing oil blended as by the perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil.
  26. 26 With it you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony,
  27. 27 and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense,
  28. 28 and the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils and the basin and its stand.

  31. 31 And you shall say to the people of Israel, 'This shall be my holy anointing oil throughout your generations.
  32. 32 It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person, and you shall make no other like it in composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you.
  33. 33 Whoever compounds any like it or whoever puts any of it on an outsider shall be cut off from his people.'"
  34. 34 The LORD said to Moses, "Take sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum, sweet spices with pure frankincense (of each shall there be an equal part),
  35. 35 and make an incense blended as by the perfumer, seasoned with salt, pure and holy.
  36. 36 You shall beat some of it very small, and put part of it before the testimony in the tent of meeting where I shall meet with you. It shall be most holy for you.
  37. 37 And the incense that you shall make according to its composition, you shall not make for yourselves. It shall be for you holy to the LORD.
  38. 38 Whoever makes any like it to use as perfume shall be cut off from his people."

  1. 1 "Then make another altar of acacia wood for burning incense.
  2. 2 Make it 18 inches square and 36 inches high, with horns at the corners carved from the same piece of wood as the altar itself.
  3. 3 Overlay the top, sides, and horns of the altar with pure gold, and run a gold molding around the entire altar.
  4. 4 Make two gold rings, and attach them on opposite sides of the altar below the gold molding to hold the carrying poles.
  5. 5 Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
  6. 6 Place the incense altar just outside the inner curtain that shields the Ark of the Covenant, in front of the Ark's cover ? the place of atonement ? that covers the tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant. I will meet with you there.
  7. 7 "Every morning when Aaron maintains the lamps, he must burn fragrant incense on the altar.
  8. 8 And each evening when he lights the lamps, he must again burn incense in the LORD's presence. This must be done from generation to generation.
  9. 9 Do not offer any unholy incense on this altar, or any burnt offerings, grain offerings, or liquid offerings.
  10. 10 "Once a year Aaron must purify the altar by smearing its horns with blood from the offering made to purify the people from their sin. This will be a regular, annual event from generation to generation, for this is the LORD's most holy altar."
  11. 11 Then the LORD said to Moses,
  12. 12 "Whenever you take a census of the people of Israel, each man who is counted must pay a ransom for himself to the LORD. Then no plague will strike the people as you count them.
  13. 13 Each person who is counted must give a small piece of silver as a sacred offering to the LORD. (This payment is half a shekel, based on the sanctuary shekel, which equals twenty gerahs.)
  14. 14 All who have reached their twentieth birthday must give this sacred offering to the LORD.
  15. 15 When this offering is given to the LORD to purify your lives, making you right with him, the rich must not give more than the specified amount, and the poor must not give less.
  16. 16 Receive this ransom money from the Israelites, and use it for the care of the Tabernacle. It will bring the Israelites to the LORD's attention, and it will purify your lives."
  17. 17 Then the LORD said to Moses,
  18. 18 "Make a bronze washbasin with a bronze stand. Place it between the Tabernacle and the altar, and fill it with water.
  19. 19 Aaron and his sons will wash their hands and feet there.
  20. 20 They must wash with water whenever they go into the Tabernacle to appear before the LORD and when they approach the altar to burn up their special gifts to the LORD ? or they will die!
  21. 21 They must always wash their hands and feet, or they will die. This is a permanent law for Aaron and his descendants, to be observed from generation to generation."
  22. 22 Then the LORD said to Moses,
  23. 23 "Collect choice spices ? 12 1?2 pounds of pure myrrh, 6 1?4 pounds of fragrant cinnamon, 6 1?4 pounds of fragrant calamus,
  24. 24 and 12 1?2 pounds of cassia ? as measured by the weight of the sanctuary shekel. Also get one gallon of olive oil.
  25. 25 Like a skilled incense maker, blend these ingredients to make a holy anointing oil.
  26. 26 Use this sacred oil to anoint the Tabernacle, the Ark of the Covenant,
  27. 27 the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and all its accessories, the incense altar,
  28. 28 the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the washbasin with its stand.
  29. 29 Consecrate them to make them absolutely holy. After this, whatever touches them will also become holy.
  30. 30 "Anoint Aaron and his sons also, consecrating them to serve me as priests.
  31. 31 And say to the people of Israel, 'This holy anointing oil is reserved for me from generation to generation.
  32. 32 It must never be used to anoint anyone else, and you must never make any blend like it for yourselves. It is holy, and you must treat it as holy.
  33. 33 Anyone who makes a blend like it or anoints someone other than a priest will be cut off from the community.'"
  34. 34 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Gather fragrant spices ? resin droplets, mollusk shell, and galbanum ? and mix these fragrant spices with pure frankincense, weighed out in equal amounts.
  35. 35 Using the usual techniques of the incense maker, blend the spices together and sprinkle them with salt to produce a pure and holy incense.
  36. 36 Grind some of the mixture into a very fine powder and put it in front of the Ark of the Covenant, where I will meet with you in the Tabernacle. You must treat this incense as most holy.
  37. 37 Never use this formula to make this incense for yourselves. It is reserved for the LORD, and you must treat it as holy.
  38. 38 Anyone who makes incense like this for personal use will be cut off from the community."
